Teacher FAQs

What devices and browsers should I use for the Phonics Check?

Use a laptop, desktop computer or tablet with the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.

Can I create student records?

Yes. Both you and your school administrator can create student records for your class.

To do this:

  • go to the ’Class’ tab on the left-hand menu
  • create a class
  • then add students one by one or import from a .csv file.

Your jurisdiction or sector may have organised the upload of your class data. If so, you do not need to create your own records; contact your jurisdiction or sector if you are unsure.

Can I access my classes and Phonics Checks from previous academic years?

When the academic year changes, all classes and Phonics Checks from the previous year are archived. You can still access archived Phonics Checks by selecting ‘Archived’ in the ‘Filter by status’ part of the search bar on the Class dashboard.

Are my student records secure?

Yes. For further information, visit our Privacy Policy.

Can I share my class data with other users in my school?

Yes. To share your students’ results with other teachers:

  • click on the 'Class' tab on the left-hand menu and select the class you would like to share
  • in the class details box, click 'Edit', tick the 'Share class data' box, then save.

School administrators can access all student results.

School Administrator FAQs

How do I register as a school administrator?

First, register as a teacher. If your school already has a school administrator, that person can approve your teacher registration request and then change your role to school administrator.

If your school does not have a school administrator, email our helpdesk: helpdesk@literacyhub.edu.au

How do I manage users within my school?

To manage a user, go to 'Settings', then 'Manage users'. From there, you will be able to perform actions such as adding or approving users and changing user permissions.

Do I have to set up student records one at a time?

No. School administrators and teachers can upload multiple student records using a .csv file, following these steps:

  1. Create a class or find an existing class.
  2. In the ‘Manage student’ section, select the ‘Import’ button.
  3. Download the .csv template and add your student records to the file.
  4. Upload the prepared file by selecting the file with the ‘Browse’ button then click on ‘Validate and upload'.
Can I assign or transfer a class to another teacher?

Yes. To do this:

  • go to 'Class' from the left-hand menu, search for the class name you want to transfer, and select 'Edit class'
  • choose the teacher who you would like to transfer the class to.

Note that teachers must be registered and approved by the school administrator before you can assign them a class.
